FreeBomB

FreeBomB is a short animation (mixed media), embracing the freedom of speech and expression. It is a typical (p)Art Production project; different parts creating one piece of artwork.

This time the artist worked with the band SONNDR. It is a local band (Rotterdam, the Netherlands), with their own studio also located in Rotterdam.

A reminder that freedom is something that applies to ALL of us. If it’s only for a few lucky ones, freedom is being replaced by a privilege. Freedom can be heard as freebomb and freedumb nonetheless we should never stop celebrating and appreciating it.

It’s an invitation to talk, listen, think, doubt. Realise that all our differences can be enriching even when we find them difficult. Anno now – people prefer to cancel each other, rather than confronting each other and talk. Petra-Puk believes it weakens the position of women, who should become more comfortable and self-assured to draw the line and speak up.

A still from the animation. It shows pictures of different mouths, all open in one way or another. The word "we" is written many times in different fonts and colours, covering the mouths. The bottom half consists of calm body of water.

Screaming and shooting obscenities to prevent an interesting and perhaps difficult conversation, is not civil. If we are civilisation, we need to come up with a different label, since we cancelled civilisation through shouting obscenities. Demeaning the other = demeaning ourselves, why on earth would we choose to do so. Something rather grim is covering us all; shouting, defending, growing apart growing lonely. Why?
